Before you get into the entire football/soccer debate again (we know, delicate topic) everyone who plays goes through some of the most vigorous training sessions imaginable. There’s sweat, there are tackles and there are warm-ups/downs during a game of football/soccer. During which there may be times where you may need hype music to keep your concentration up, especially when training alone. Then there is also the fact that during a run, you need simple music to help you keep calm and running well.
That’s where we come in because let’s face it, not all of us are capable of affording the apple earbuds so we have to look at alternatives for earbuds that are water (more precisely sweat) proof and have the quality to match that. So in this feature, the CrossBar team tested out a few recommendations to give you the best sweatproof wireless earbuds around, and especially when you’re training for soccer/football.
Some of the basic things we looked for in these earbuds were:
- Don’t fall out when running
- Be waterproof/sweatproof
- Long lasting
- Quality noise

Belkin Wireless Earbuds
If you’re looking for something a little robust when you’re running on the pitch and trying to enjoy some music while on your first mile, then we can’t recommend the Belkin Wireless Earbuds enough especially for football/soccer training drills. It’s the perfect combination of style and substance, with one of our associates even “accidentally” dipping it in water to see if things would go south.
No Dice! Which makes them an even better option for those on a more modest budget. The black color was our choice, but they have a variety of different colors for you to choose from along with the IPX5 technology that protects them from both moisture and sweat. It makes the earbuds perfect for running because most if not all the touch controls are on the earbuds themselves (HOW F**KING COOL IS THAT)
So to sum things up:
- 24 Hr in-Case Battery
- 4-5 Hours playtime (Just about)
Jabra Elite 3 In-Ear Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds
Now that we’ve given you a glimpse into ‘buds’ that help in not falling out of your ears when you’re running, let’s go towards something a bit more ‘up there. Introducing Jabra Elite 3, which is possibly one of my favorites on this list. I just really love the design of these earbuds, they really make me want to keep a pair for myself (I’m contemplating it).
But the voice is just SO CRYSTAL CLEAR. Especially when you’re listening to one of those rock tunes as you’re doing your running drills alone in the ground. It’s like they completely cancel the surrounding noise out, hopefully not when your coach is screaming at you to get to the actual soccer/football. They have a wide variety of colors for those who love their aesthetics, such as Navy, Dark Blue, Lilac, and Light Beige. While the best part is the IP55 Sweat and Rainproof technology that these have which can help with any kind of weather.
So to Sum Things Up:
- 28 Hr Case Battery time
- 7 Hours of Battery time for normal use
- Multiple Colors
- Built in Alexa and Spotify
- Can Charge one while using the other (Mono Mode)
Back Bay Runner 60 Wireless Running Earbuds
What we really liked about these is the security that these earbuds provide, with the ear hooks. These are a huge advantage and why we decided to pick something a little local because these provide those running a few miles even more ease. We can tell you with absolute certainty after having a kick about (5 a side) that we didn’t lose either of them and the voice quality for the music remained SPOTLESS.
Speaking of the voice, there’s something called EXTRA BASS MODE which you can activate with just a light tap. It really boosts the appeal of these along with their surprisingly lightweight battery time that exceeds 8 hours easily but with a catch. If you charge these all the way through, they are ready for almost 80 hours of running, jumping, and slide tackling.
To Sum It Up:
- IPX7 Rated Waterproof/Sweatproof
- 80 Hours of Usage
- Bass Mode for Quality Sound
- Wireless Control
Occaim K23 Sweatproof Wireless Earbuds
The Occaim K23 are earbuds we had to include in this list because of the amazing quality and resilience that they possess. Not only are they lightweight with amazing battery timing (up to 64 hours) they also have this really appealing design that makes them perfect for all running activites. The hook provides the support for the ear (and the security) with the waterproof/sweatproof technology of the IPX7 with the choice for every ear type as well.
One of the really cool features is to switch between both Mono and Stereo modes at will without much issue. This combined with the 4 Mic technology system of the buds, makes the noise reduction technology the best in this price range and something we love. So the next time you want to listen to those important meetings in the background while doing your warm down post a game, these are the perfect earbuds for you. We love them (truly).
To Sum It Up:
- IPX7 Waterproof/Sweatproof technology
- Earhook Security
- Wireless Charging with Type-C Charging
- 64 Hours Battery with Charging Case
- Easy Bluetooth pairing support for the head buds.
TOZO T6 True Wirless Earbuds
Going a bit old school with the design on this one, with TOZO’s T6 Wireless Earbuds designed the same way as the iPod cases. What makes us really root for these is the color combinations that are available (seriously, it’s mad). They have up to 6 different color variations available ranging from the standard white color design to light green which really gives the TOZO T6 a unique look that others don’t really have.
This along with its unique IPX8 Waterproof technology, which trumps the choices that came before, is an attractive quality. This means it can handle up to 1 minute and 30 seconds underwater which makes them a really resilient option when it comes to training in some really dodgy weather conditions (soccer/football waits for no sun). They can also be easily washed with soap and water to clean them up, and you should have no issues with them.
If you’re looking for a pair of sweatproof soccer earbuds that are just very robust, then these are perfect for you.
JBL Endurance Peak II
The JBL Wireless Earbuds are some of the best hook headphones we’ve seen. It has 3 really decent color variations mixed with almost 30 hours of playback with up to 6 hours in the bud & 24 hours in the case. It has handsfree stereo call and gets this, its own voice assistant which is so cool. JBL took the liberty of providing its own support & safety sheet as well.
They’re of course, Waterproof and one of the best when it comes to staying in your ear. This is one of the most important aspects of us putting them in here. Here’s to hoping you like them as much as we did.
BicBoz True Wireless Earbuds
Ok, let’s talk comfort for a second. We all get annoyed when the earbuds start falling out when running, but it’s also equally bad when they leave marks/blisters on the helix of your ear. The guys at BicBoz have nailed the comfort part so well that it makes everything else a side character (SO COMFYYYYYYYY).
This along with the waterproof technology and the metallic appearance gives these earbuds a shout-out when you’re training for the game at the weekend. It connects with your device very easily and has a variety of different colors to choose from. The noise cancellation system is top-notch with its aPTX Audio Technology.
We love these, and thanks to the pricing make them an attractive offer in itself. Something we highly recommend you try is nothing but for the comfort and ease of use alone
Poly BackBeat FIT 3200 Earbuds
Ever heard of earbuds that are specifically made for sports? Ones that fulfill everything an athlete would want when training or even having a kick out with their friends on the pitch. Well BackBeat FIT 3200 surprised the heck out of us with these absolute beauties. We tried the blue sportish looking ones on a rainy day. Went out for a run to just test them out and we think we’re in love.
With up to 24 hours of total power out of which you can use these without the charging case for up to 8 hours. It has something really amazing known as the Awareness Mode. This mode is able to provide the perfect balance between your physical activity and being aware of your surroundings. The IP57 waterproof technology stands out with it being sweatproof even for those of us who are just surrounded by their own sweat when running or doing drills in the gym.
To Sum It Up:
- IP57 Waterproof Technology
- Stable fit with rubber earbud hooks
- Awareness Mode for more control
